White Balance
After taking pictures using white balance I experienced how white balance can affect my pictures. White balance is the process of removing unnatural colors from a picture. On the cameras that we have there are seven different white balance modes the modes are; auto, incandescent, fluorescent, direct sunlight, flash, cloudy, and shade. All of these settings add different colors to the pictures to enhance them. If you wanted to fix a picture that had an odd color you can change the white balance so that the subject would have its normal colors. White balance can create a cooler feeling to the pictures and make them look better. I learned a lot by taking pictures with white balance and was fascinated by the difference it made to my pictures.

SAM (Story, Audience, Message and Style)
Story:
1.       The story in this piece is to convince the audience to help Haiti by donating money after the earthquake that occurred there.

Audience
1.       The audience for this piece is anyone who reads the poster.
2.       I can tell that this piece was created for the audience because the person who creates this poster talks in a third person point of view which makes you know right away it’s directed to other people.
Message:
1.       The message of this poster is to donate money to Haiti because it helps them deal with the difficulties of losing everything after the earthquake and giving them a foundation to start rebuilding.
Style:
1.       The style of this piece would definitely be considered nonfiction.
2.       The author made this poster poetic because they had a hand reaching down from above and holding a small child’s hand that was in Haiti.
3.       The techniques the author used to convey the message was that they used dominance, the picture of the hands holding each other hold the audience’s main attention and draws them into reading the rest of the poster.
4.       The author used text that popped in order the get people to read the message.
5.       The visual appearance of the poster is clear and easy to read, but the last two words are small and hard to see from a distance.
6.       There are no objects or sounds that are distracting.
7.       The visuals contribute to the picture because the picture shows someone holding the hand of probably a small child and it creates a caring feeling for most people and makes them want to donate because of the small children who live there and lost everything.
